BXHS bands live March 2019

Happy International Women’s Day 2019. Our ladies of the Brixton Hill rock everyday of the year, but a special salute to you all on this, the day today (before you ask, International Men’s Day is on Nov 19, we’ll salute all you men then) xx

RELEASES & NEWS: The hardest working women in rock Madonnatron have been getting some love from BBC 6Music’s Gideon Coe and Marc Riley for their new single ‘Sucker Punch’. While you’re listening again to those shows, there’s also still time to hear Riley’s sessions from BXHSers Art Brut and Big Joanie, the latter of which head out to the USofA for SXSW, along with BXHS faves Black Midi and Laura Misch who’s been spending some time here at the studios this week.

Having had an EP launch party at The Sebright Arm last week, female fronted 4 piece, Foundlings‘ eponymous EP goes up on itunes/spotify etc today, and BXHS regulars Pregoblin‘s forthcoming ‘Combustion” single got a rave review in the The Guardian no less. Sister Talk have there single launch party for ‘Vitriol‘ on Wednesday 13th. Rollers Of Bedlam recently released ‘Rock’n’Roll‘, recorded by our very own Alessio Costa. Also recorded here, this time by Sir Nick of Howiantz, Light Emitting Dinosaurs’ debut single ‘Ambition’ – “an intriguingly fresh slice of alternative sound” (Louder Than War) – is available to download now.

Whatever you’re up to this month, rock hard. We Love You, You’re Awesome x.

BXHS bands live Feb/Mar 2019

Another update on what the lovely bands who come here are up to…

Before we get down to the gig list, just wanted to mention a couple of exciting related things. Big Joanie have been chosen, along with 5 other artists, to play the BBC Music Introducing/PRS showcase at SXSW festival in March. Also performing at SXSW are Black Midi, whose opening track on our Christmas EP got spun by Iggy Pop on his 6Music show. Copies of said EP are still available at Genepool, or just ask at reception next time you’re in. Plus, Rock-God regulars, Dinosaur Pile-Up announced a mahooosive US tour with Shinedown in the summer. Ooof!

If you rehearse/have rehearsed at Brixton Hill Studios and have some exciting band news/releases/gigs that you’d like to feature on here, give us a shout at hello@gooseberrymoose.com. Until next time xx
